Macy’s Flower Show® – “Brasil: Gardens By Bachman’s”
March 25-April 7, 2012, Open during Macy's store hours
Macy's Downtown Minneapolis, 8th Floor Auditorium
This spring a beautiful tropical paradise will blossom with majestic flora at the annual Macy’s Flower Show. Set to bring a floral wonderland filled with brilliant colors, aromas and textures, Brasil: Gardens by Bachman’s will showcase a rainforest of treasures at Macy’s Downtown Minneapolis.
In partnership with Bachman’s for 48 years, Macy’s Flower Show has delighted generations of floral aficionados with spectacular presentations of lush gardens that showcase millions of live flowers, plants and trees from around the globe. Blooming in unison despite the various climates from which they may originate, Macy’s Flower Show offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to enjoy these magnificent blooms together in an unexpected setting.
2012 Theme: Brasil
Showcasing the wonder of Brasil through lush tropical garden presentations that depict its unique landscape, culture and famed celebrations, the 2012 Macy’s Flower Show, “Brasil: Gardens by Bachman’s”, will be a feast for the senses. From the Amazon rainforest and the samba pulse of Rio de Janeiro, to its legendary carnival celebration, a South American botanic wonder will take root in the heart of the city.
The design of this year’s show takes inspiration from the famed works of Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx. During his lifetime, Mr. Marx’s nature-based, modernist aesthetic brought splendor to international urban landscapes from Copacabana Beach to Kuala Lumpur. This unique urban meets nature combination will serve as a blueprint for the show’s architecture and landscaping.
Bouquet of the Day
In addition to serving as the official celebration for the start of the spring season, Macy’s Flower Show will also flourish with fresh one-of-kind floral themed masterpieces created by four designers from Bachman's. The "Bouquet of the Day" can be seen from March 25 to April 7 on the first floor of Macy's Downtown Minneapolis store. These extravagant, larger-than-life bouquets will reflect the personal style of each floral designer and take inspiration from this year’s theme. Floral artists featured this year include: Scott Ellingboe, Diane Enge, Jamie McLaughlin and Karen Ortiz. Each display will rotate every three to four days throughout the duration of the show.
