Steps

Mark out the bed line with paint or marker.
Dig out a flat sided trench with a garden spade about 5" deep.
Starting from a hard surface, set the edging in the trench and stake it in approximately 4' - 5' and 1' - 2' on curves.
Backfill with soil and pack with your foot.

Connecting Pieces

- While holding the joint tightly, drive a galvanized edging stake through both pieces of edging at a 45 degree angle just above the vee.

- When joining pieces together, never use a piece smaller than 3'.

Sidewalks

The top tube of the edging should meet flush with the top of the sidewalk or driveway.
After staking down the edging, back fill with 3" of native soil and pack with your foot.
Make sure to drive an edging stake in as close to the hard surface as possible.
When the edging meets a hard surface, the top tube should be cut at the same angle to match the surface. A hacksaw works well for these cuts.
