General Tips and Rules

1. When using natural store, lay out stone and match up joints first.
2. Use a 1/2" - 1" of sand in the bottom of the trench to help level the stones faster.
3. The top of the edging should always be flush with the soil level and the top of the hard surface.
4. Do not saw cut to make stone joints fill better. A gap of up to 1" is acceptable.
5. Only use a saw to make a flush cute when the edging meets up to a hard surface. The top of the edging should also be flush with the top of the hard surface.
6. Cut the edging to match the angle it meets with the sidewalk.
7. When trying to match up the joints of natural store, match the stones carefully. You may have to use a chisel to knock off a point to make them match better.
8. When meeting a hard surface, a straight cut should be made. When the edging comes in at an angle, a matching angle cut should be made in the edging so that it meets the hard surface flush.
