Arbors and Trellises
Arbor
- Attach a green treated, six-foot 2 x 4 to the outside edge of the legs
of the trellis. Use galvanized wood screws to attach and pre-drill to prevent
splitting. Repeat this step for the other side.
- After attaching the 2 x 4's, slightly dig in the ground to level. The
2 x 4's should be totally burried under the mulch, rock or soil.
Trellis
- Create a "T" with two 6' green treated 2 x 4's. Screw them together
in five places to prevent warping.
- Bury the "T" post with the 4" side facing forward. 24"
of the "T" post should be underground with 48" above. Plumb
the post and compact the soil.
- Attach the trellis to the "T" post with screws in three places.
Pre-drill to prevent splitting.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Cedar Trellises use cedar 2 x 4's
White Trellises use white primed 2 x 4's
