Broadleaf Weeds

The best time to kill broadleaf weeds is when it's warm, and they
are actively growing. Broadleaf weed killers come in liquid or granular
forms. Most granular forms also contain fertilizer. Most effective control
is obtained when applied in early Fall between August 15 and October 15,
and if weeds are numerous, again in the Spring, April or May, as well.
If the area has been fertilized within the previous eight weeks, a weed-and-feed product is not recommended. In this case, use only an herbicide. If the area of lawn has not been fertilized within the previous eight weeks, either a weed-and-feed product or a liquid product can be used. In all cases, apply when soil is moist, temperatures are between 60 degrees and 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and there is no wind. If a granular product is used, sprinkle the lawn to wet the surface. The granular herbicide will be activated as soon as it touches the leaf of the weed.
PLEASE NOTE: Granular weed-and-feed products must be applied with a drop fertilizer spreader. Do not use a rotary-type. All weed killers, both liquid and granular, will damage flowers, shrubs, evergreens, and vegetables. Care must be taken to avoid all contact with sensitive plants. Spot treat problem areas if the whole lawn does not have weeds.
