Each season, our designers transform the historical Bachman’s home on Lyndale Avenue by painting, furnishing, and decorating the entire house with their signature mix of new items, repurposed pieces, and a touch of vintage.
Embrace warm days and cool nights with a spicy mix of terracotta hues, shades of blue, cozy textures and natural elements. Mixed metals with green plants and lush florals create an inviting atmosphere to embrace autumn and harvest style.

The Fall Ideas House is open seven days a week, September 8 through October 2, 2016. Self-guided tours ($5) are sold in 30-minute increments during the following times: Mon.-Wed. 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Thurs. & Fri. 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Sat. 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Sun. 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Please note: you will not receive a ticket in the mail. On the day of your visit, pick up your ticket(s) at the gift counter in our Lyndale store. If you have difficulties placing your ticket order online, contact our Call Center at 612-861-7311 and we will be happy to assist you in placing your order.
- Terracotta Hues – This rich tone adds a breadth of warmth throughout the house, highlighting the comforts of autumn.
- Cool Blues – A reflection of cool, autumn nights, the blue color palette adds an unexpected addition to traditional fall hues.
- Mixed Metals – Assorted soft-toned metal accents are transformed into art and absorbed into design.
- Kokedama – String gardens that use moss as the container.
Porch – Welcome fall with a splash of pumpkin patterns and melamine dishware set against a neutral palette. Copper and wood accents add rustic, natural details.
Dining Room – Enjoy a fresh take on fall with an inspired combination of ivory, turquoise, a pattern of pheasant, and the natural beauty of wood.
Living Room – Layer cozy, fall accents in tones of cool blues, autumn golds, and playful patterns. Harvest fall style and bring the outdoors in with natural wood elements.
Sunroom – Centered around an indoor fountain, lush botanicals and hanging string gardens create a seasonal sanctuary.
Kitchen – Find patterns, stripes, and plaids in smoky blues paired with copper dishware and rich wood tones which provide unexpected accents among traditional autumn hues.
Master Bedroom – Enjoy the perfect place to cozy up on cool nights, a peaceful retreat among shades of blue reflected in floral and stripe patterns. Warm metal accents are transformed into art and absorbed into design.
Craft Room – Inspired by string art and whimsical, vintage prints, muted tones of pink, orange, yellow, and teal capture an eccentric, artistic flair.
Guest Bedroom – Greet guests with a warm welcome. A neutral backdrop ignites in full color with traditional autumn hues and terracotta tones. Fur accents and gold elements add refined, rustic detail.
Study – Sit back in a comfortable, leather chair and enjoy a good book. Black walls and print block wallpaper define this industrial space. Make a statement in time with inspired design using clocks.
Garage – The season is made wickedly beautiful with décor of black and gold, wingback chairs, and a witch’s cauldron. Try on a disguise to fit in among the tricks and treats of Halloween!
Beer Pub – It’s time for a brew ha-ha! Ideal for the beer aficionado, faux brick walls and a high-top table add tavern-like style, while wood and metal accents and beer cap artwork remind you of your favorite, neighborhood pub.
Outdoors – Enjoy the beauty of autumn and seasonal transitions in the landscape, containers and garden. Find an inspiring mix of fall favorites such as mums, kale, ornamental peppers, grasses, crocus, pumpkins and gourds.
As Seen in the Ideas House
Nearly every item in the Fall Ideas House is priced for sale. Items with blue dots on their price tag are one-of-a-kind item, available only at the house. They can be purchased on a first-come basis. Buyers can pick up or arrange to have these items delivered after the house closes in October. Items without blue dots are available for sale at Bachman’s on Lyndale, while supplies last. Look for “As Seen in the Ideas House” signs inside the store to find items featured in the home.

Each ticket includes a coupon for $5 off a $25+ Bachman's purchase, with 20% of ticket proceeds benefiting Friends of the Fair- MN State Fair Foundation. Admission is free for children 12 and under. *NOTE: Tickets are required for entry and may be purchased in advance at Bachmans.com or through our Call Center. Same-day tickets may be available only for purchase at the gift counter at Bachman's on Lyndale. If you have not pre-ordered, please call before you arrive. Tickets are limited, especially on weekends.
